LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
$2,673 – $3,949 Monthly*
*minus temporary 10% salary reduction through work furlough
Provides support to the staff of the Water Quality or Wastewater
Laboratories by performing technical duties related to preparation,
sampling testing and analysis of water; wastewater; biosolids;
sample and data management; and assists in the investigation of
customer water quality complaints. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in
chemistry, biology, microbiology, environmental sciences or related
field OR high school graduation plus 1 year experience as a
laboratory assistant with some related college coursework.

REQUIRED SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONS

of laboratory procedures, equipment and methods used in water or
other related environmental analysis.
2. Describe any experience that has provided you with knowledge
of laboratory procedures, equipment and methods used in water or
other related environmental analysis.
3. Describe your experience with collecting and managing
samples, e.g. preserving, storing, documenting, assigning
analyses, etc.
4. Describe your experience using spreadsheet and word
processing software; include any experience you have using
laboratory database software.
5. If you do not possess a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry,
biology, microbiology, or environmental sciences, list the
college-level chemistry, microbiology, or related (with
laboratory components) courses you have taken, include the course
title, the number of units, whether quarter or semester units,
and the name of the school.
