PACIFIC GROVE HYPERBARIC CHAMBER TECHNICIAN – PART TIME
THE POSITION:
The Hyperbaric Chamber Crew will be notified of a treatment case by
either telephone or pager and directed to respond to the Hyperbaric
Facility. All members will be considered part time City Employees
and be covered by Workers’ Compensation for liability purposes
during training and rescue situations. New members will complete a
specified training course before they are placed into emergency
situations. All members are required to attend monthly training
sessions.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Hyperbaric Chamber Crew members will be available for treatments at
the facility utilizing practiced techniques and procedures.
Successfully complete a Hyperbaric Chamber Technician course or
equivalent within two years of being sworn-in as an active member.
All basic and advanced training will be provided.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Any person of good moral character and habits, over the age
of eighteen years of age.
• Currently trained in CPR; certification must be kept current
by renewal every two years.
• Applicants must show proof of any medical, diving, water
rescue or hyperbaric training.
• Must be able to hear spoken words with or without
correction; speak English with clear, understandable voice to
communicate emergency calls and messages in English only.
• Medical training of First Responder or EMT is desired.
COMPENSATION:
Consists of an hourly salary range of $8.00 per hour. City
contributes to Medicare at the rate of 1.45% of the part-time
employee’s salary. Employees contribute to the Public Agency
Retirement Service Alternate Retirement System (PARS-ARS) at the
rate of 7.5%, in lieu of Social Security. No additional benefits
are provided for part-time positions.
THE EXAMINATION PROCESS Interested and qualified applicants should

All completed applications will be reviewed and the most qualified
applicants will be invited to participate in an assessment process
to evaluate the training, experience, and personal qualifications of
the candidates. This process may include, but is not limited to
written examinations, skills assessment and oral board interviews.
Successful candidates will be placed on an eligibility list from
which an appointment may be made. |
